John W. Sewell
The Rev. John Sewell serves as Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Memphis Tennessee. Raised Southern Baptist, Sewell earned a bachelor’s degree in music and voice from the University of North Alabama in Florence, a Masters of Divinity from The Asbury School of Theology in Wilmore, Kentucky, and studied at Seabury-Western Episcopal Seminary (affiliated with Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois). He was ordained into the diocese of Alabama in 1981. Prior to his current position, he served as rector of The Chapel of the Cross in Madison, Mississippi, as Associate Rector at St. Luke’s in Birmingham and as rector at Christ Church in Birmingham. |
